Mission
This archive exists to record the massacres committed against the Christian communities of Lebanon, so that the names, the places, and the dates remain visible to anyone who comes to look.
It is a memorial, not a tribunal. It does not name guilt where the record is unclear. It does not assign collective responsibility. It does not treat any community — including the Christian communities themselves — as innocent or guilty as a whole.
The Christians of Lebanon are one of the oldest continuous communities of the Near East. Their history includes centuries of coexistence and episodes of mass killing. Both are recorded elsewhere. This museum records the second.
Methodology
Every event in this archive is supported by at least two independent sources. Casualty figures are presented as ranges when sources disagree. Where a record is absent, the absence is preserved rather than filled.
Family submissions are accepted and reviewed by the curatorial team. Corrections are published with a dated note explaining the change. Prior versions of every entry are kept.
The curatorial team
The archive is maintained by an editorial team of historians, archivists, and community members based in Lebanon and abroad. Names are withheld at the team's request; institutional partners are listed in the annual report.
A note on language
This site launches in English. Arabic and French editions are in preparation. When the Arabic edition is released, all entries will be reviewed by native speakers and, where possible, by families of the victims.
